Regulation on holding on January 4-8.1.2018 of the International Competition-Festival of Variety and Folk creativity «NORTHERN LIGHTS 2018»

 

Organizers of the festival:

Founders: International Cultural Association of Turku (Turun kansainväliset kulttuurimarkkinat yhdistys ry, Finland) and the SEM Consulting Oy, Finland.

 

Purposes of the festival-contest:

• Promoting diversity of artistic creativity, support and promotion.

• Establishment and strengthening of close friendship and creative relationship between teams and individual performers from different cities and countries.

• Formation and training of artistic taste, the positive attitudes and interests of the younger generation.

• Familiarization with the cultural traditions of the countries - participants of the competition.

• The creative exchange of experience among the leaders of groups and individual artists.

• Coordination of the participants of the competition at other festivals and competitions.

 

Terms of the festival:

1. Creative teams and soloists can take part in the festival in the following categories:

 

Variety creativity:

•Variety song (soloists) • Variety song (small vocal ensembles) • Show groups • Variety instrumental creativity ( soloists) • Variety instrumental creativity (bands, variety instrumental ensembles) • Variety dance (soloists) • Variety dance (ensembles) •Theatre of Variety Miniatures • Circus creativity (soloists) • Circus creativity (ensembles)

 

Folk creativity:

• Folk song (soloists) •Folk song (small vocal ensembles) • Folk choruses •Variety instrumental creativity ( soloists) • Folk instrumental creativity (bands, folk instrumental ensembles) • Folk dance (soloists) •Folk dance (ensembles)

 

2. Participants in the festival are divided into the following age groups:

Vocals (soloists):

• group of 7 to 9  • group of 10 to 12  • group of 13 to 16  • group of 16 to 20

• adult group of older than 20

 

Vocals (show groups, vocal - instrumental ensembles, bands and choruses):

• group of 7 to 12  • group of 13 to 15 • group of 16 to 20 • group of older than 20 • family and mixed ensembles

 

Choreography: • group of 7 to 10 • group of 11 to 15 • group of 16 to 20 • group of older than 20 • mixed group

 

Artists on musical instruments:

• group of 7 to 10 • group of 11 to 14 • group from 15 to 20

• group of older than 20 • family and mixed ensembles

 

Circus creativity and Theatre of Variety Miniatures:

• group of 11 to 14 • group of 15 to 20

• group of older than 20 • family and mixed ensembles

 

Exhibition (painting arts, applied and decorative arts, art photo): • group of 6 to 11 years

• group of 12 to 16 years • group of 17 to 25 years • over 25 years

 

Performance of the participants of the festival:

- Soloists (vocal) and vocal ensembles performing on 1 song in any language. Timing of the repertoire isn’t more than 3,5 minutes.

In other nominations participants perform 1 item not more than 4 minutes. Theatre studios and circus groups participate with 1 item of no more than 5 minutes.

 

- Rehearsals and performances are held strictly in accordance with the schedule provided by the organizer of the competition - festival.

 

- Competitive program of the festival participants (singers) present with the phonogram (-), for a gala concert is permitted (+).

 

• All performers program, as well as the song that dance show and other performances such as the gala concert of the songs sent in Mp3 format by email info@semconsulting.fi in connection with the registration, at least 1.12. Mp3 must save in the following sequence in English:

Performance´s country, city, participant's name and surname, the name of the song

For example:

Finland, Kuopio, Anne Lahtinen, Bird

Back- vocals are allowed fragments without a major party. Participants who violate the rules will not be allowed to take part in the competition. Organizing Committee reserves the right to refuse the participation of groups that have bad quality sound track, or recorded on obsolete media. Artists may make accompanying.

• Each participant is given an acoustic and technical rehearsal of not more than 3 minutes for soloists and 3,5 minutes for the team. Claims about music during the competition will not be accepted. Vocal groups, exceeding more than 3 people, are allowed to use their wireless microphones or headsets.

• Changes in the program, presented to the competition in the application are not allowed!

• In addition to competitive programs of groups and performers must take part in activities in the program of the festival (opening / closing ceremonies).

• Selection of performances at the Gala-concert among the winners and participants is made by the organizers and the jury. The program is final and non-negotiable.

 

Jury:

The Organizing Committee of the International Contest-Festival "Northern Lights" is formed by competent international judges.

 

Criteria for assessment of performances and works:

Performance of the participants assessed the jury to 10 point scale.

Nomination - vocals: matching repertoire age and capabilities of the performer, a sense of rhythm, the ability to use a microphone, culture and stage movement, purity of intonation and sound quality, beautiful tone and strength of voice, ensemble system, the original repertoire.

 

Nomination - choreography: the skill and technique of the movements, the structure of the item  corresponding with the age peculiarities of the repertoire of performers, theatrical (plastic, costume, props, culture, design), selection and match of musical and choreographic material, artistry, disclosure of the artistic image.

Nomination - instrumental creativity: the skill and technique, sound quality instrument, musicality, repertoire selection and correspondence with the age peculiarities of artists, artistry.

Nomination - circus art: originality, the skill and technique, artistic quality of the incarnation, theatrical, musical accompaniment.

At the competition will be following awards:

• GRAND PRIX in each nomination. The jury has the right not to present it if the level of the performances is low.

• Winners of I, II, III degree

• Winners of IV, V, VI degree

• Winners of I, II, III degree receive diplomas and cups, winners of IV, V, VI degree receive diplomas and medals, all the other participants - diplomas.

• Special prizes and prizes from the sponsors will be awarded at the festival.

• Special awards: Award for Artistry, Diploma for  the youngest participant, Diploma for the Originality of the Performance and Diploma for the Conservation of National Traditions will be given at the festival.

• Managers are awarded with diplomas.

• The jury's decision is final and is not subject to revision.

• Guests and VIP-guests, artists, representatives of public organizations, mass media of Finland, Russia and other countries are invited to the ceremony.

 

Conditions for participation in the festival:

• The organizers pay special attention to the need for familiarization with the current regulation.

• Each participant arrives at the festival in the terms specified in the official invitation

• Application means consent with a regulation  and is a  contract between organizers and participants of the festival, despite the country of residence. Participation in a festival is confirmed by the invitation sent by the organizer on the basis of the application, lists of the participants and documents confirming the payment for the application registration

• Refusal from a participation in a festival later than a month before the festival isn't possible, and money isn't given back in this case! Force majeure is only a doctor's certificate given to a person not to a group.

• The number of delegation members, including attendants, must also be specified in the application. Participants of the festival, accompanying and managers, indicated in the application reside strictly in the hotels that are booked by the organizers of the festival!

It is necessary to give beforehand complete lists of all participants, heads, teachers and accompanying. Lists should contain the information taken from the international passport:

1: a name of the participant

2: date of birth

3: passport number

 

Cost:

1.    Standard program (check-in 4.01. from 14.00, check-out 8.01 before 12.00)

Leaders and attendants pay 250 € (the price includes accommodation in a 3-4-bed rooms in a hotel in the center of the city, breakfast and dinner at the hotel (buffet)).

• Soloists pay 310€ (the price includes accommodation in a 3-4-bed rooms in a hotel in the center of the city, breakfast and dinner at the hotel (buffet) and participation in the festival).

• Participants of other nominations pay 290 € (the price includes accommodation in a 3-4-bed rooms in a hotel in the center of the city, breakfast and dinner at the hotel (buffet) and participation in the festival).

Optionally, 2 people can stay in 2-bed room for an additional charge of 70 € per person.

2.    Discount program (check-in 4.01 from 16.00, check-out 8.01 before 12.00)

Accommodation in a hotel in the center of the city. There is a shower, a toilet,  a TV-set, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a teapot, tea, coffee in the room. Without meals. The organizing committee provides services in the organization of lunches and dinners (17 € per person).

• Leaders and attendants pay 190 € (accommodation in 4-bed rooms, without meals)

• Soloists pay 270 € (accommodation in 4-bed rooms and participation in the festival, without meals)

• Participants of other nominations pay 260 € (accommodation in 4-bed rooms and participation in the festival, without meals).

Optionally, 2 people can stay in 2-bed room for an additional charge of 40 € per person (without meals).

Attention! Persons interested to participate in the discount program must send an application till 1.10. In the application it is necessary to select "discount program". The quantity of places is limited. The organizing committee of the festival can stop accepting applications for the discount program before the specified term 1.12.

• For residents of Turku (only participating, without accommodation and meals): soloist payment is 50 €, group payment is 80 €.

• For other citizens of Finland who do not live in the hotels booked by the organizing committee: soloist payment is 80 €, group payment is 110 €.

Participant is able to take part in several categories with the condition of making a separate application form for each nomination show in each statement the genre, a full-fledged competitive performance and payment for additional nominations. Groups or soloists participating in the festival in several categories, pay an additional fee of € 40 for each additional category. Soloing is considered as the main categories!

•Visiting of Rovaniemi - the native land of Santa Claus costs 260 € per person (payment should be made till 25.10.).

The cost includes: trip Turku – Rovaniemi – Turku with our guide, packed meal and dinner in a restaurant in Rovaniemi.

If participants wish, it’s possible to organize transfer from the railway station of Rovaniemi to the village of Santa Claus and back (8 € per person, no less than 30 people)

• Registration of the application costs 30 €. In case of cancellation, this amount is not refundable.

• Transportation and other costs of participants and leaders, as well as the accompanying must be paid by the sending parties or the participants themselves.

• Visa and insurance must be paid by the sending parties or the participants themselves.

The Organizing Committee provides assistance in obtaining a free visa, if an application with the payment order for payment of the application for registration must be received before November 20. Lists of participants to receive free visas must contain the following information:

1. Name and surname (in Latin letters as in passport)

2. Date of Birth

3. Passport number and series

4. Citizenship

• Excursions are extra charged.

 

Rules for submission:

Deadline- October 25. After receiving a receipt of the payment of the application registration, an official invitation to the festival and an invoice are sent (payment is possible till December 1). APPLICATIONS are sent by e-mail. The application indicates the need for resettlement with the exact number of seats and sex. Information on the number of participants contained in the application is treated as final.

General rules for participants:

• The Organizing Committee is the exclusive carrier of property rights to broadcast the concert and competition plays on radio and television, as well as the ownership and distribution of printed competitive products, audio and video recordings of the participants of the competition, lectures, seminars and master classes.

• All disputes are submitted to the jury, the organizing committee and management. Their decision is final and not subject to revision.

• Matters not stipulated by the Regulation, the organizers decide.

• Filing an application means you agree with the rules (Regulation).

• Participation in the festival is confirmed by the invitation sent by the organizer on the basis of received applications, lists of participants and documents confirming payment of the registration application.

• Each participant has the right to voice advertising of his sponsor during the awards ceremony.

• Teams must have at least one attendant for 7 people. The head is not an attendant!

• Head of the team is responsible for the lives and health of children.

• Organizers are not responsible for the facilities associated with risk (circus). Participants are responsible for compliance with safety regulations.

• Organizing Committee has the right to make changes in the Regulation of the festival no later than one week before the festival, informing the registered participants.

• In case of disagreement in the interpretation of this Regulation, and translation into other languages only the Russian text is right.

 

Accommodation:

1. The festival participants live in a 3-4-bed rooms (standard program) and in 4-bed rooms (discount program) in the hotels, which are located in the heart of Turku. Optionally, 2 people can stay in 2-bed room for an additional charge of 70/40 € per person.

Transfer:

Transfer (railway station, hotel, train station) is guaranteed if the date, time, place, train and car, flight number are communicated to the organizers 10 days before the start of the competition.

Meeting participants at railway stations and airport of the city of Turku at an additional charge: 30 €. Meeting participants at the stations and the airport in Helsinki, a special bus (maximum 49 people) costs 650 € (one way).
